Allied Telesyn CentreCOM AT-8518 Gigabit Ethernet Switch, 16 ports 10/100Base-TX
| Allied Telesyn International's AT-8518 10/100 switch matches the wire-speed performance of Layer 2 switching, with the sophistication of IP-based Layer 3 routing to create a fast, easy to use and affordable solution for networks that demand high-bandwidth, high-speed connections. The AT-8518 forms part of Allied Telesyn's new family of Layer 3 switches, and is designed to meet the increasingly extreme requirements of intranet and Internet applications. Allied Telesyn's Layer 3 switches share a common non-blocking switch architecture that provides unparalleled scalability in the areas of bandwidth, network size and quality of service (QoS). The AT-8518 provides 16 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiating Ethernet ports and two full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet ports. The two Gigabit ports are 1000Base-X, which can be configured SX or LX (hot-swappable media supporting SX or LX via GBIC module). The AT-8518 is ideally suited for high-performance workgroups consisting of a local gigabit server and 16 10/100 Mbps Ethernet segments, with an additional Gigabit Ethernet backbone connection. All 10/100 ports on the AT-8518 auto-negotiate for half/full duplex modes as well as speed, providing maximum flexibility. The 10/100 Mbps ports also parallel detect for speed, allowing seamless connectivity to legacy 10 Mbps devices as well as 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet devices that do not auto-negotiate. Automatic MAC address learning and aging capabilities make setting up the switch a simple task. Support for static addresses provides even greater flexibility. Spanning Tree redundancy helps prevent loops and speeds network recovery in case of failure. The result is improved network performance and unmatched flexibility. | |
